Vendors block road at Ponda

On Friday evening, the  Ponda municipal council allegedly demolished a wall near the municipal market and closed the entry to the market. Agitated vendors closed the road on Saturday morning. It was only after the intervention of the Ponda police inspector, the road was thrown open to vehicular traffic and also the entry to the market.

Ponda market to remain shut today over sopo issue

Ponda market vendors have decided to strike on Thursday and keep the market shut as the sopo issue has remained unresolved. The vendors who refuse to pay the hiked sopo rates have been summoned to  ponda police station and north goa collectorate  on Thursday. Hence the strike.
