One dies in fire at Ponda

PONDA: One person lost life while four others suffered burn injuries when a fire broke out at a roadside hotel in Mardol, some 8 kms from Ponda city, in the wee hours of Saturday. Property to the tune of around Rs 8 lakh has been destroyed.

DTF temporarily suspend agitation

PANAJI: The Discriminated Teachers Forum (DTF) on Friday temporarily suspended their agitation, after the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat assured that he would study the matter of compensation to 1,019 teachers, who were forced to retire at the age of 58 instead of 60 through a policy decision of the erstwhile Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state.
