PONDA: Marcaim coast has been known for different species of shellfish. But of late, it has been observed that the availability of shellfish is on the decline here and so, the fishermen, who used to eke out living on its sale, have become jittery.
PANAJI: President of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee John Fernandes blamed the Indian Coast Guard for failing to discharge its duty in “arresting” the oil slick and the tar balls that washed ashore along the Goa coast.
VASCO: The air intelligence unit of the commissionerate of customs at Dabolim airport on Saturday seized 20 gold biscuits, weighing 2.320 kilogram worth nearly Rs 56,25,000, transported illegally from two different Goa bound Dubai airlines. The customs sleuths in this connection have arrested four Keralite passengers, among them two boarded the flight at Mumbai airport.

MAPUSA: It was alleged that the Kerim beach protection work which was taken up at a cost of Rs 7 crore by the water resources department was spent to build a gabion wall. This has caused further damage to the beach with the protection wall not being able to withstand the fury of the rough sea waves.
