Khsetrpaal and Dvaarpaals – IV

In this last article of the series ‘Khsetrpaal and Dvaarpaals’ we shall read about the concept of Dvaarpaal. They are basically mythological doorkeepers of temples unlike the Koteshwar (keepers of the fort gate) or the Khsetrpaal (keepers of the village or an area). Though the concept is very similar to the other two, the Dvaarpaals have a definite iconography. Hence, they are different from the other group.
