Forest dwellers reject tiger reserve idea

PANAJI: The villagers of Charavne, Hivrem, Thane, Kodal, Nanode, Nagargaon, Maloli, Murmune and Paikul in Sattari taluka, residing in the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary area bordering the Karnataka state are vehemently opposed to the idea of declaring the area as a tiger reserve as it will put additional restrictions in their daily life and lead to their rehabilitation.

Tiger not spotted in last 60 years

PANAJI: While the wildlife lovers might be championing the cause of declaring the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary as a tiger reserve stating that tiger was a "resident" of the area but elderly people residing in the different villages told ‘The Navhind Times’ that they have never seen a tiger in their life in the area.

Unclaimed luggage triggers bomb scare at Dabolim airport

VASCO: Luggage left unclaimed on a trolley opposite the entrance gate to Dabolim International Airport triggered a bomb scare on Friday evening.
