Naphtha fire: bail denied to ZIOTL, NHAI officials

MARGAO/VASCO: The additional sessions court judge, Ms Vijaya Pol on Monday rejected the anticipatory bail plea moved by the nine officers of Zuari Indian Oil Tanking Ltd, National Highways Authority of India and KMC Construction Ltd in connection with the Vasco naptha fire incident that claimed four lives and damaged property and vegetation. The incident had occurred on August 19 and 20.

Fourth victim succumbs to burn injuries

VASCO: The Vasco naphtha fire claimed its fourth victim on Monday. Naval sailor, Soumitra Sankar Das, who was working as an air mechanic at the INS Hansa, succumbed to his burn injuries while undergoing treatment at the navy hospital INHS Asvini in Mumbai.

Lack of dredging of Sal affecting fish catch

MARGAO: The importance of the dredging at the mouth of River Sal at Betul was once again felt by the mechanised boat owners in Cutbona and Betul on Monday as they could not venture into the sea for fishing. Also, a few boats that were in the deep sea struggled to return with the catch, with the strong water currents obstructing their smooth journey and posing danger in the absence of dredging.

Goa accorded permanent IFFI venue status: ESG CEO
