Team to study ways to curb polluting bio-tech units in state

PANAJI: The government is all set to review the state bio-tech policy notified in the year 2006, as there exist certain rough edges in this policy including lack of control over setting up of polluting bio-tech units in the state. A proposal to constitute an expert committee of eminent personnel and professionals in the bio-tech field for the purpose is under active consideration of the government.

Rs 30 lakh cheating plaint filed

PANAJI: A complaint of cheating has been registered at the Porvorim police station, against Rakesh Ishwarruppa Kattimani and Preeti Rakesh Kattimuani, residents of Rushigulli, Old Gandhinagar, Belgaum, Karnataka, by Ms Carol Ruzario, resident of Horizon Jade, D G Patel Estate, near football ground, Alto-Betim. In her complaint, Ms Rosario stated that the accused duo cheated her to the tune of Rs 30 lakh.

Goa receives best rainfall in 5 years

PANAJI: With almost 98 inches of rainfall already recorded till Thursday (August 12), the state has received the best rainfall over the past five years and is likely to receive a total of around 120 inches of rainfall by the time the monsoon season ends on September 30. The average rainfall around this time over the years has been 82.4 inches.
