BJP asks Governor to intervene in Monserrate detention case

PANAJI: The state Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday requested the Governor, Dr Shivinder Singh Sidhu to intervene in the matter as regards detention of the Minister for Education, Mr Atanasio Monserrate by the Customs officials last week, for allegedly carrying huge amount in foreign currency while travelling to Dubai. The requests were made when a 17-member delegation of BJP led by the state party president, Mr Laxmikant Parsekar, including the leader of the opposition, Mr Manohar Parrikar and the North Goa MP, Mr Shripad Naik met Dr Sidhu.

GBA’s demand for RP facilitation centres gets CM’s attention

MARGAO: After a meeting with members of Goa Bachao Abhiyan at his residence in Margao, the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat has promised to look into the NGO’s demand that facilitation centres to correct mistakes in the Regional Plan 2021 be formed prior to the notification of the entire final Regional Plan and that the centres should address plans for all talukas including Pernem and Canacona, informed sources.
