Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, on Tuesday, urged all the fair price shops owners to avoid the use of biometric system for the distribution of essential commodities through their shops as a safety measure.
Almeida had convened a meeting of all the booth level officers (BLOs) of Vasco constituency at Janata Vachanalaya Hall in the wake of the COVIDS-19 pandemic.
The meeting was attended by Mormugao mamlatdar Satish Prabhu and Mormugao Municipal Council chief officer Gaurish Shankhwalkar.
Almeida explained the role of BLOs in the present situation.
He requested the Mormugao mamlatdar and the MMC chief officer to avoid the use of biometric sysytem for ration distribution at all fair price shops as a safety measure.
He also requested the BLOs to monitor the distribution of essential commodities at the fair price shops, general stores and to keep an eye on the prices of various commodities
“I have also directed the BLOs to keep a check on the persons who are home quarantined,” he added.
The house wives and the owners of the twoand four wheeler from Curchorem Sanvordem and nearby areas face untoldhardships as the technicians and mechanics are not available. All the garages have also remained closed till date.
