Candolim VP passes surplus budget of Rs 4.41 crore

Candolim: Budget for the year 2020-2021 and failure of recording the minutes of the previous gram sabha were the main issues discussed at the Candolim gram sabha which was held at the Candolim panchayat hall on Sunday.

Due to the ZP elections and the moral code of conduct, the panchayat secretary told the gram sabha that no developmental works can be discussed at the gram sabha.

After the minutes were read out by the panchayat secretary Lourenco Ribeiro the villagers questioned him that some points are still not recorded of the November gram sabha. Even the August 25 gram sabha minutes have still not been recorded despite bringing the issue to his notice.

The budget for the year 2020 -2021 was read out in which Rs 4,41,36,391 surplus budget has been shown by the Candolim panchayat. The income has been shown as Rs 12,95,37,991 while  the expenditure is Rs 8,33,81,000.

Roshan Mathias brought to the notice of the gram sabha that the budget for education and culture should be increased.

Villagers raised the issue of a traffic sign board which is being erected near the Canara bank should be rectified as one side is shown as parking for four wheelers and on the other side the board shows parking for two wheelers.

Villagers suggested to the gram sabha that since the development works cannot be discussed at the gram sabha due to code of conduct it should be taken up for discussion after the moral code of conduct  ends as it is the right of the villagers to discuss developmental works in the village.

The sarpanch told the gram sabha that there is no need of having a discussion on development works after the code of conduct ends as the doors of the panchayat is open for villagers to discuss any point on development of the village.
