Boscoites shine at Gateways, Bangalore

The MCA Department of the Don Bosco Institute for Post Graduate Studies and Research, Panaji has won overall champions at Gateways, Bangalore.
The MCA department of Christ University, Bangalore had organized their 18th annual intercollegiate postgraduate IT Fest ‘Gateways’ on September 9 and September 10. ‘Gateways’ is a platform for future IT magnates to meet, share ideas, learn from each other and grow.  This year, the fest saw 25 colleges from across the country participate in 12 events over two days.
The MCA department of The Don Bosco Institute for post graduate studies and research, Panaji participated in this mega-event for the first time this year.  They were accompanied and guided by faculty Jovi D’Silva. Students shone in events such as ‘Just A Minute’ (JAM), Debate, Counter Strike, IT Quiz, and Product Launch.
Boscoites launched a ‘Coconut Cooler’ in the product launch event. Made from a coconut shell, the device has an attached fan that is powered by an USB. Alton Souza of TY MCA impressed judges away with his defense of the Coconut Cooler and the team bagged first place in the event.  Other students who participated in the event were Yelstin Fernandes, Ashudeep Devari, Jonathan Fernandes and Tyson Fernandes. Alton Souza also bagged first place for JAM. Egan D’Souza, Denzil Fernandes, Mohsin Shaikh, Sandesh Naik and Lenart Fernandes took away the first prize for Counter Strike. Egan D’Souza bagged first place for photography. Siddesh Chopdekar won first place for NFS. Besides this,  students also came second in the Treasure Hunt, third in the IT Quiz, Web-designing and Video Making. Both first and second  places in the gaming contest were taken by Boscoites.
The icing on the cake for Team Bosco’s was winning the Overall Championship trophy at ‘Gateways 2014’ becoming the first outstation team to win the same.
