Two-day CII design summit from Sept 20

PANAJI: CII-Goa is holding the 19th India Design Summit on September 20-21 at Cidade de Goa, Dona Paula. The summit is recognised as a premier design forum for design practitioners, policymakers, users and design educators to discuss, disseminate, and demonstrate various facets of design. The theme of the summit this year is ‘Design for the Social Sector’. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will be delivering the inaugural address. The summit is scheduled to be held in sessions with each session discussing various aspects and applications of design. Presentations by participants will focus on in-depth case-studies on design interventions in the social sector. NT

3 Mi Xiaomi stores opened in state

PANAJI: An exclusive store of Mi Xiaomi in Porvorim was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday in the presence of Amit Bakhale, distributor for Goa region, Shantesh Naik, city head Xiaomi and Santosh Sudhakar, franchisee owner. The store has a basket of products such as mobile phones, accessories, bluetooth headphones, beard trimmers, power banks, home security cameras, selfie sticks, etc. Two more stores of Xiaomi opened on the same day at Ponda and Margao. The company has plans to operate more 25 stores across the state, of which seven will open over the next 30 days. NT

Bank of Maharashtra conferred ‘Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar’

PANAJI: Bank of Maharashtra has been awarded ‘Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar’ for better implementation of rajbhasha Hindi. A S Rajeev, managing director and chief executive officer of Bank of Maharashtra received the award at the hands of Home Minister Amit Shah in a function held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on Saturday. The function was presided over by Shah. Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, G Kishan Reddy and others were also present on the occasion. Pramod Datar, general manager and zonal head of Delhi zone and Dr Rajendra Shrivastava, assistant general manager (Rajbhasha) were also present on the occasion. NT

Vibrant Goa launches intern buddy prog for students

PANAJI: Organisers of the Vibrant Goa summit to be held on October 17-19 launched an intern buddy programme for Goan college students. Under the programme, selected students will be assigned international business delegate during the three-day Vibrant summit. Students are expected to receive the delegates at the airport and be the local guide and assistant for the duration of the business convention. Organisers of the summit expect students to benefit through better communication and negotiation skills through the internship besides gaining an insight to the world of business. A student-orientation workshop for the internship will be held at 9 am on Wednesday, September 18 in the chemistry department of the Goa University campus. NT
