For Benelli brand enthusiasts, the launch of the Leoncino 500 promises exciting rides, reports Team B&C
Italian motorcycle brand, Benelli model, launched the Leoncino 500 in Goa market at Rs 4.79 lakh. Competitively priced, the motorcycle is said to be the most affordable scrambler in India right now. The launch was at Nijole Autotech, Taleigao, the newly opened Benelli showroom in the state. Pre-bookings can be done at the company’s website and also at the dealership at a token amount of Rs 10,000.
In design the latest model is based on the scrambler philosophy with modern elements that make it more desirable. The front end of the motorcycle gets a rounded all-LED headlamp for better illumination than a regular halogen unit, while, the tail end gets a number plate fitted on the tyre hugger that looks modern and cool. It is available in two colour options, red and silver. Braking duties on the Leoncino are taken care of with the help of twin 320mm disc brakes up front along with a single 260mm disc brake at the rear. A dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) comes as standard for added safety and better braking. The suspension comprises of 50mm upside-down forks upfront along with a rear monoshock. The motorcycle tips the scales at 207 kg and has been assisted with a 13.5-litre fuel tank.
The 500cc model was unveiled by guest of honour, Pramila D’Lima, a NRI and chief guest Allwyn Siqueira, avid bike enthusiast. According to bike experts, the Leoncino is a nod to the Italian brand’s ‘lion cub’ models of the 1950s and 1960s. The 500 cc motorcycle is also Benelli’s second launch in India after the company started its second innings under a new management.
