Villagers of Bastora have resolved during gram sabha meeting that no permission shall be given to any mega project in the village as villagers are facing hardship due to insufficient infrastructure.
Ex-panch Agnel Fernandes raised question about multi-flat project in Xell vaddo which was given permission by panchayat for four villas which later the builder changed to 16 flats. Villagers later demanded explanation from sarpanch Pratiksha Mayekar as presently the village infrastructure is insufficient to cater even to the village. Agnel Fernandes informed the gram sabha that there is no proper garbage collection system and villagers are also facing hardship due to irregular power and water supply. The gram sabha resolved that no permission should be granted to any mega project in the village till proper infrastructure is developed.
On the issue of vendors at Tari junction near Mapusa bridge, the villagers questioned as to how many vendors were legal and what income was generated from them as they were in Bastora panchayat jurisdiction. Ex-deputy sarpanch Andrew D’Souza along with other villagers demanded that a survey be conducted and necessary action be taken before the next gram sabha. Other issues like cleaning/de-silting of drains, culverts and garbage management were also discussed.
