Assault case: HC grants conditional bail to accused



The High Court of Bombay at Goa has granted conditional bail to one in a case related to assault.

The High Court said, “The applicant, Shailesh Garad shall be enlarged on bail on executing bail bonds in the amount of Rs 25,000 and furnishing one local surety in co-extensive amount to the satisfaction of the Additional Sessions Judge, Panaji. The applicant shall co-operate with the trial and ensure his presence on all the dates of the hearing. The applicant shall not tamper with or intimidate the witnesses or hamper the course of the trial in any manner whatsoever. The applicant shall also not leave the state of Goa and the territorial waters of India without the prior written permission of the trial court.”

Shailesh Hiranwale, a resident of Cunchelim, had lodged a complaint alleging that Shailesh Garad alias Gargatlo, a Cunchelim resident, along with his associates, with a common intention over previous enmity, had allegedly abused his friend Omkar Harmalkar in filthy words and further alleged that he also made an attempt to murder him and his friend by assaulting them with a sword, causing them injuries on head and other parts of the body.
