With e-commerce operators permitted to deliver essentials, Goans have hailed Swiggy and Zomato for resuming services.
Understanding the need to have home deliveries, and social distancing the management at these companies has put through a system in place that adheres to rules laid down to prevent Covid-19 from spreading.
Head of Zomato in Goa, Kaushik Tiwari said that they are happy to be functioning as they we were before.
“The government of Goa has been very supportive in understanding that at such times, there would be need of good and hygienic food, hence we started our delivery,” he said.
In lieu of Covid-19, Zomato and Swiggy has promoted the concept not social distancing and hence have educated the rider partner as well as the merchant partner to abide by it. Cash transactions are stopped so that virus transmission, if any, is avoided.
Also, since social distancing is being promoted during these times, contactless delivery has been introduced. Here the food/essential ordered is kept at a safe and clean place outside the door.
“We are taking every step to fight this battle together by spreading as much as awareness as possible,” Tiwari said adding that there were over 50 outlets being serviced on Goa on Sunday, more so in South Goa.
Swiggy too has sprung into action. And those in Panaji could place orders from quite a few outlets. Some outlets are charging Rs 10 no contact fee.
The Navhind Times couldn’t manage to get an official statement from Swiggy until the story was filed, despite several efforts.
