Anjuna-based beach club prohibited from holding 4 music events

PANAJI: Office of the north Goa District Magistrate has issued an order prohibiting Anjuna-based ‘NYEX beach club’ from holding four different music events at year-end.

Coming out with the information, north Goa Collector Nila Mohanan on Wednesday said that the events were being advertised without even applying for any permission from the concerned government authorities.

The music events, which have been prohibited from being organised are SANDRO AVILA, Sunburn reload and Sunrise Festival, all scheduled to be held at ‘NYEX beach club’ located at the Anjuna beach. ‘Goa Mantra,’ another event, which was scheduled to be held at the Anjuna beach on December 27, 28 and 29, has also been prohibited by the District Magistrate.

“There were four events set to be organised by ‘Nyex beach club’ in Anjuna beach belt area without any prior permission. We found that the organiser was not having required permission from Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA), Deputy Collector or the police department,” said Mohanan.

“The National Green Tribunal has passed various orders prohibiting the holding of any events at the said venue without obtaining any permission from the authorities in the state. Hence, I issued an order to immediately prohibit them from organising these events,” she said.

Mohanan, in the order, has warned that if the organiser fails to comply with the orders, then action under criminal laws would be initiated by her office against ‘Nyex beach club.’
