Margao: A day after a Roman Catholic priest from Ambelim in Salcete taluka tested positive for the deadly coronavirus, five people in the village also tested positive on Friday.
Sources said the health department had collected swab samples of people, who had come in contact with the infected priest. The priest has been admitted to the Margao-based COVID Hospital.
The results trickled in confirming that five villagers tested positive for the COVID-19 pandemic.The details of the patients are awaited.
Health teams are expected to visit the affected areas and quarantine those living in the vicinity.The kin of the COVID positive villagers will be subjected to the test.
Ambelim sarpanch Danica Coutinho said the panchayat is closely monitoring the situation in the village to prevent the spread of the virus.
