“Students should not rely only on government jobs instead opt for better opportunities in various fields to flourish in their chosen career,” said principal of Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem, Joydeep Bhattacharjee while speaking as chief guest at the 10th felicitation function of Pope John XXIII High School Quepem. Around 80 students were felicitated at the event.
Guest of honour was assistant professor at Shree Mallikarjun College of Arts And Commerce, Purnanand Chari. Speaking on the occasion he stated that the generations before did not have any bookish knowledge but were still aware of culture and traditions. “Now we have forgotten all the traditions, but in true sense it was our real art and culture, we live a better present due to the hard work of our grandparents,” added Chari.
Special invitee, assistant professor of sociology at Goa University, Mozinha Fernandes said that problems arise in everyone’s life and it depends on how one tackles them and finds solutions. She said: “Moving forward without fear of society with your passion and hard work won’t leave you behind and that is a true spirit of being an educated person”
The felicitation was organised by Adivasi Sangatna, Kepem who has been organising the same for the last 10 years. In his speech, president of the Sangatna, advocate Joao Fernandes stated that one should contribute towards the Sangatna’s progress in various ways – financial support, volunteering at the Sangatna or imparting knowledge for the Sangatna’s progress.
The others present were councilor of Quepem municipal council, Paul Fernandes and sarpanch of Ambaulim village panchayat, Jacinta Dias.
