Margao : Several activists, Aam Admi Party (AAP) members and citizens burnt copies of the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) proposed by the central government led by the BJP in protest claiming that it will divide the nation on the basis of religion.
The CAB copies were burnt at the roadside near the Margao Communidade building on Thursday morning.
“This bill is anti-Muslim. The BJP at the centre is trying to divide the nation on the basis of religion. The said bill is anti-national and against the Indian constitution. We are protesting against it” said Shaikh Muzaffar while speaking to the media at the protest site.
He further appealed to the people of Goa to come out openly and raise their voices against the ‘draconian’ bill.
Joan Rebello said she is against the bill as it is a ploy of the central government to wipe out the minorities in the country and make the nation a Hindu Rashtra. She further said that there is a severe threat to minorities of the nation as there would be a hidden agenda behind it. AAP members also pointed out that the said bill is opposed by AAP leaders in Delhi.
