A myriad display of art

The third edition of the Goa Affordable Art Fest (GAAF) 2019 has on sale artworks – photographs, paintings, digital art, mixed media, prints, and sculptures priced between `1,000 to `1,00,000 from December 14, 2019 to February 14, 2020

On Saturday night, the museum will host a preview night, 6.30 p.m. onwards, which will be open to all at no entry charge. Reema Diwan, corporate director of technical services and interiors at Taj Hotels Resorts, Palaces & Safaris, will be the guest of honour. The night will include a musical performance by Indian singer-songwriter, Tritha Sinha. Escobar will take over the bar.

GAAF is a platform for emerging artists to exhibit their work and an opportunity for fledgling collectors to acquire contemporary art at affordable prices. Artworks at this festival are priced between `1,000 and `1,00,000.

The third edition of the fest will see distinct forms of visual arts on display like art photographs, paintings, digital art, mixed media, prints, and sculptures. In fact, GAAF 19 is proud to showcase over 900 works by 271 artists from across India.

Applications for the fest were open to all artists based in India, at no charge. Out of 1,200 applicants, the jury selected 271 artists. The selection panel constituted of artist, Jagannath Panda; founder of Delhi’s Latitude 28 gallery, Bhavna Kakar; and MOG director and artist, Subodh Kerkar. The selected works will be displayed at MOG and will be accessible to over 50,000 visitors over two months. “It is a myth that you need a lot of money to collect art,” says Bhavna Kakar, who hopes everyone visits the fest and takes their pick of the diverse art on display.
