Top-seeded Chandan Caro and Ruhaan Shaikh stayed on course for glory at the 5th Naguesh and Sushila Verenkar Memorial All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, as both booked their spots in the U-15 Boys final at the Chandor
Multipurpose Hall.
Chandan, had to dig deep to see off National ranking bronze medallist Yug Prabhu 3-1 in the semifinal. Ruhaan, kept his composure to dispatch Dhruva Kamat 3-1 and seal his place in the title clash.
Earlier, the top seed barely broke a sweat against Bhaavan Srivastava, cruising to a 3-0
quarterfinal win. Yug, meanwhile, was tested in a five-game thriller by Vedant Wagle before edging through, while Ruhaan took care of business with a confident 3-1 victory over Chinmay Bakhare.
In the U-13 Boys category, Ruhaan showcased his versatility and attacking flair, sweeping past Ishaan Colaso 3-0 in the semifinals. Yug fought back impressively after dropping the opening game to prevail 3-1 over Vedant Wagle. Both had earlier made short work of their quarterfinal opponents — Ruhaan easing past Noel Kurian and Yug overpowering Ashank Dalvi, each in
straight games.
