PANAJI: The Goa cabinet, on Friday, decided to set up Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) cell under the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), and gave approval for the creation of 38 posts of AYUSH practitioners.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, during the press briefing after the cabinet meeting said that under AYUSH cell, the government will fill up the posts of deputy director, assistant director and ayurvedic as well as homeopathy physicians, adding that the doctors will be posted in government-run district and sub-district hospitals besides community health centres and primary health centres in the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, who is also holding the health portfolio, informed that the government will set up two AYUSH hospitals at Sankhali in North Goa and at Macazana in South Goa besides AYHUSH Research Centre at Chimbel in Tiswadi and All India Institute of Naturopathy at Dhargal.
Parsekar informed that the cabinet has also given approval for the creation of 16 posts of veterinary officers in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department.
The cabinet also approved the proposal for Smart City, prepared by the City Corporation of Panaji.
The Deputy Chief Minister, D ’Souza, who also holds urban development portfolio, said that Panaji city is competing to be among the 20 cities to be selected of the 100 in the second phase, adding all 19,619 suggestions have been incorporated in the proposal of Smart City, which was sent to the Centre on December 14.
He said that if the capital city gets into the list of 20 cities to be selected in the second phase, then the central government will release Rs 200 crore as first installment, followed by Rs 100 crore each for the next three years.
