Panaji: A total of eight new suspected cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) have been reported in Goa on Saturday.
All eight patients were quarantined at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, immediately after they were found showing symptoms of the dreaded virus that originated from China’s Wuhan city.
Till date, Goa has seen 70 suspected cases of COVID-19, of which 29 are still in the isolation ward of the GMC.
As per the media bulletin released by directorate of health services on Saturday, 10 more passengers were placed under home quarantine; around 877 people have self-isolated at home in the state.
The health department had sent a total of 56 samples on Friday to the laboratory of the Kasturba Hospital for Infectious Diseases, Mumbai, for examination, and the reports are awaited.
At present three persons have been quarantined at the North Goa District Hospital, eight at the sub-district hospital in Ponda and 45 people have been quarantined at the Margao Residency.
All these people are close contacts of COVID-19 positive patients and suspected cases. They are asymptomatic.
