4 die in road accident

In a major accident reported, early Saturday morning, at Panzarconi,  Cuncolim, between a truck and a car, four occupants of the car,  including a six-month-old girl died, while one was seriously injured.

The injured has been admitted at the Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital, Bambolim.

The police inspector of Cuncolim police station Wilson D’Souza said that the car, a Swift D’zire, bearing registration number  KA-02 MG-8957, which had come from Vasco and proceeding to Dandeli collided head-on with the truck bearing registration number KA 25 AA- 9418, and adding that the truck, which was moving in the opposite direction, had come from Canacona, and was heading towards Margao. The police inspector said that  is Rizvan Sayyed (25) had come down from Dubai and landed at Vasco, and his father  Qassim Sayyed (52) and driver Sadam Kalinga (21), from Dandeli, had come to collect him.

He said that daughter of Qassim – Sabina Beig is married in Vasco, and added that Sabina accompanied by her  daughter,  Aainha Beig, aged 6 months had come to the Dabolim air port to receive Rizvan.

He further said that the family members which travelled  from Vasco by the car  met with the accident at Panzorconi at around 6.30 am, and added that Rizvan,  his father  Qassim, driver Sadam, Sabina and Aainha were seriously injured and were taken to Hospicio Hospital, Margao,  however,  four of them were declared dead while Rizvan was taken to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, and is being treated there.

The police inspector said that the police conducted panchanama  and  have registered offence against driver of the truck, a 24-year-old Manjunath Kilagadi, from Darward, for driving in rash and negligent manner and causing deaths.

According to the Cuncolim police,  the vehicles involved in the accident have been removed  from the site.

The panchanama was conducted by PSI Vivek Halankar and further investigation is being done under the guidance of PI D’Souza.

Eyewitnesses at the site said that both vehicles were moving at a high speed when the head-on collision occurred.
