MAPUSA : Three cars and two bikes dashed against each other on Thursday morning when the Chief Minister’s car along with his pilot car allegedly over took a truck which was proceeding towards Karaswada on the National Highway near Hotel Priti at Acoi junction, Mapusa. Due to the accident traffic was blocked for almost one hour as vehicles were stuck in the middle of the road.
According to Mapusa police the incident took place in the morning around 9.15 am when Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s car, which was proceeding to Pernem on the way to Morjim for an inauguration function, overtook a truck near Hotel Priti International on NH17 as the pilot vehicle showed a flag to the vehicle coming from the opposite direction to slow down.
In the bargain, the vehicle coming from the opposite direction applied brakes suddenly and as a result a car bearing registration number GA 07 K 5667 immediately applied brakes resulting in two cars bearing registration numbers GA 07 E 4965 and GA 0 N 4630 and two Splendor bikes GA 03 N 8315 and GA 03 M 4333 ramming into each other damaging all five vehicles.
According to an eyewitness “The Chief Minister was in the car when his vehicle overtook the truck resulting in the accident.”
