29-yr-old arrested for going on rampage at Alto-Dabolim school

VASCO: A 29-year-old youth trespassed into a school at Alto-Dabolim on Wednesday morning and ransacked an office and also assaulted the headmistress, teacher and a peon with fist blows and a wooden table.
The Vasco police, based on a complaint from the chairman of the school Pandurang Korgaonkar, picked up the alleged accused from his house located barely a few meters from the school.
Some anxious moments were witnessed following the incident with the students of the school panicking over the development. For nearly an hour, the students remained in a fretful state.
According to information from Vasco police, the alleged accused, identified as Parikshit alias Paresh Suresh Raikar trespassed into the Keshav Smruti High School at Alto-Dabolim at around 9.30 a.m. and then after having an altercation with the headmistress Sushma Korgaonkar, he went on a rampage and assaulted her with fist blows and a wooden table. The youth also ransacked the office of the headmistress and threatened her with dire consequences.
When a teacher Mandakini Kumbhar and peon Gurudas Dhokodkar intervened, the alleged accused also assaulted them with fist blows and then went away.
Following a complaint from the school chairman Korgaonkar, the youth was immediately arrested from his house.
The injured headmistress, teacher and peon were rushed to the Cottage Hospital at Chicalim. While the teacher and peon were discharged after being administered first aid, the headmistress was referred to Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital at Bambolim for further treatment.
However, as per information from the school administration, later in the evening the headmistress was admitted to the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) Hospital at Headland-Sada.
Vasco police, in this connection, have registered an offence against the alleged accused under sections 451, 353, 332, 323 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). Head constable Razaq Madbhavi is investigating the case under the supervision of police sub-inspector John Fernandes and Vasco PI Sagar Ekoskar.
