37-member panel to work on reforms for ease of doing business and living

Panaji: The state government has constituted a 37-member high-level committee for suggesting ease of doing business (EoDB) and ease of living (EoL) reforms.

The panel is headed by the Chief Minister, while the Chief Secretary is the member convener.

The committee is expected to identify and implement priority reforms to enhance Goa’s ranking in national and international EoDB assessments, besides streamlining regulatory processes and reducing compliance burden.

The panel will work for promoting investor-friendly practices.

It is also expected to review citizen-centric services with the objective of ensuring time-bound, transparent, and hassle-free delivery under the EoL framework, monitor the progress of reforms measures, resolve inter-departmental issues and ensure accountability of departments.

The government has also constituted an eight-member committee to frame the state intellectual property rights (IPR) policy, aimed at promoting innovation, research, and intellectual property protection.

The director of industries, trade and commerce is the chairperson of the committee, while deputy director (administration) of industries, trade and commerce is its member convener.

The term of the committee will be for a period of one year, which may be extended from time to time by the government.

The panel will review the existing national IPR policies and relevant policies of other states/Union territories, conduct stakeholder consultations as and when required to collect and analyse inputs, and draft the IPR policy document for the state.
