Comedian Selvy’s new tiatr, ‘8 Dis’, is a tale on the life of auto rickshaw drivers, their families and the many problems they face.

Three rickshaw drivers are good friends. Marcus, has two daughters Cybil and Beverly. Santan has a daughter who is called Corona and is as smart as ever. The third friend Jacob, is single and spends half his earnings on matka. They have their differences but are always friends trying to help each other. Also part of this story is a corrupt police inspector and a righteous Dy SP, with a humorous hawaldar working under them. Beverly is a nun helping the poor while Cybil, who is at home, has bouts of fainting every now and then. When a doctor is consulted, he has bad news and demands lakhs for the surgery. Watch the rest on stage as the story continues depicting faith in God, the meaning of true friends and a confrontation with the cops.

The show has a good script which is directed well. The setting is by Anthony de Amabajim with good light effects from Ratnakar. The set of the rickshaw stand looks good. There is plenty of humour, some good songs and the band packs punch, backing the songs. The cast perform well. Cia Clancy and Meeta Fernandes are cast as the two daughters, Cybil and Beverly, and give fine performances. Pradeep Naik as Marcus does a great act of the worried and loving father. Pascoal Rodrigues supports well as Santan. Francisco is the doctor, Remson is a friend and Myron makes a number of entries. Prakash Marathe is the corrupt inspector, Pradip Khandeparkar is the DySP with principles while Caitano is the hawaldar who tries to please both, adding humour while doing so. Selvy is Jacob, creating laughter with his well-timed dialogues. He is supported well by the pretty Cassie Travasso. The young actress is great throughout!

Joaquim Castanha (trumpet), Jovan d’Souza (trumpet), Jaison Cardozo (drums), Jose Dias (bass), and Richard provide good music. The opening song is rendered by Francisco. There are other nice songs from Meeta, Remson, Francisco, Pascoal and others. An enjoyable show, do watch it!
