Department of psychology of Carmel College, Nuvem in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Margao branch, organised a national webinar on, ‘Young People, Mental Health and Self-care’. The resource person was Abhijit Nadkarni, addictions psychiatrist and associate professor at the Global Mental Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Officiating principal of Carmel College, Aldina Braganza Gomes expressed that generally individual’s reminiscence that in their youth they felt the happiest. She also highlighted that the current pandemic has brought to the forefront mental health of youngsters.
Nadkarni captivated the audience both online and offline with the need to understand mental health and stressed on the need for self-care among young people in order to improve their mental health. He highlighted various techniques that young people could engage in to improve their mental health, emphasising that mental health needs to be given equal importance and physical health.
This was followed by an interactive question and answer session.Rania Gomes, a student of FYBA, through her original composition expressed her thoughts on loneliness.
The webinar had participants from all over the country participating online as well as TYBA Psychology students of Carmel College who attended offline.
