The dreaded COVID-19 pandemic has been claiming two lives every hour in Goa for the last three days.

A total of 152 COVID patients have succumbed to the disease in the last 72 hours including 46 people who died on Monday.

From April 19 to April 30, the pandemic had been claiming almost one life every hour. However, the mortality data released by the government clearly shows that the situation is getting grimmer with every passing day. Of the 46 COVID-linked deaths on Monday, 16 of them died within 24 hours after being brought to the health facilities: the fatalities also include six patients who had taken doses of COVID vaccine.

There were also 11 patients who didn’t have any comorbid conditions, and despite that they lost the battle against the virus.

Till date, 1,320 people have died due to COVID in the state.

In the last 24 hours, the state registered 2,703 new coronavirus infections with a positivity rate of 45 per cent, taking the tally of active COVID cases to above  25,000-mark.
