In view of the increasing COVID-19 cases in Assagao and Verla Canca, the panchayat body has decided to impose a self-imposed lockdown restriction in order to break the COVID chain.
In this connection the Assagao panchayat, sarpanch Hanumant Naik has issued a notice imposing a self-imposed lockdown in the village starting from May 4 from 3 pm to May 19 upto 6 am wherein villagers are given restricted timings from 6 am to 1 pm for public movement inside the village with compulsory social distancing and wearing of masks.
The panchayat has further warned to initiate action including cancellation or revocation of establishment license including sealing of shops, stores or if any business or trade is not following required restriction measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Various restrictions include opening of shops selling essential commodities from 6 am to 1 pm, banks to be allowed to serve the public till 1 pm however after 1 pm bank staff can do their office work inside closed doors. Various non essential activities are directed to be closed.
In view of the steep rise in COVID cases and increase in deaths in Verla Canca village, the panchayat body has decided to impose a partial lockdown and declare Verla Canca panchayat jurisdiction as a major containment zone in order to control the COVID cases. A 15-day containment red zone for entire Verla Canca area has been declared from May 3, 12 pm to May 17, 6 am.
The decision was taken at a special meeting of the panchayat body where it was unanimously resolved to self-lockdown from May 3 till May 17 with restricted timings of
public movement inside the village with compulsory social distancing and wearing masks from 6 am to 12 pm.
Siolim Marna panchayat has also decided to impose restrictions to allow all types of shops in Siolim-Marna jurisdiction to keep open from morning 7 am to 1 pm till May 10 and has requested the Anjuna police inspector to deploy a police constable to serve notice to all shopkeepers.
