Active COVID-19 cases cross 10,000 mark in Goa

Goa continued to report an alarmingly high number of coronavirus infections, as 1,410 fresh cases of the COVID-19 pandemic detected on Thursday, taking the tally of active COVID-19 cases above 10,000-mark.

The COVID-19 death toll rose to 964 in Goa as the pandemic claimed 21 more lives in the last 24 hours. These 21 patients also include three patients who failed to seek medical attention and were brought dead to the health facilities.

As on Thursday, Goa has 10,228 active COVID-19 cases of which majority fall under the jurisdiction of Urban Health Centre of Margao (1135) followed by Primary Health Centre of Porvorim (887) and Candolim (885).

The confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Goa currently stand at 72,224 of which 61,032 patients have defeated the deadly disease which also include 461 COVID patients who have been declared as recovered on in the last 24 hours.

According to the DHS, active positive cases in the jurisdictions of other urban health centres stand as follows:, Vasco – 663 cases, Panaji- 683 and Mapusa – 546 cases. While active positive cases in the jurisdictions of community health centres are as follows: Sankhali – 279 cases, Bicholim – 219 cases, Pernem – 226 cases, Valpoi – 131 cases, Curchorem – 187 cases and Canacona – 158 cases.

 And, active positive cases in the jurisdictions of primary health centres stand as follows: Aldona – 205 cases, Betki – 81 cases, Cansarvanem – 70 cases, Colvale – 184 cases, Corlim – 173 cases, Chimbel – 346 cases, Siolim – 244 cases, Mayem – 63 cases,  Balli – 130 cases, Cansaulim – 314 cases, Chinchinim – 163 cases, Cortalim – 560 cases, Curtorim – 162 cases, Loutolim – 176 cases, Marcaim – 97 cases, Quepem – 109 cases, Sanguem – 96 cases, Shiroda- 158 cases, Dharbandora – 142 cases, Ponda – 600 cases and Navelim – 170 cases.
