Goa records 7,547 active COVID-19 cases

With 17 new deaths linked to the dreaded virus in the last 24 hours, the state on achieved a grim milestone of 900 COVID-19 deaths.

Goa on Monday recorded 940 fresh COVID-19 cases, and with that, the positivity rate climbed to 34.48 per cent, as per the health bulletin issued by the directorate of health services.

Of these 17, deaths 12 occurred at Goa Medical College and Hospital Bambolim, three at South Goa District Hospital in Margao, and one each at Hospicio, Margao and North Goa District Hospital, Mapusa.

Currently, the state has 7,547 actives cases, Margao currently has 826, which is the highest number of active cases followed by Candolim that has 631 cases.

The confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Goa currently stand at 68,152 of which 59,705 patients have defeated the deadly disease which also include 428 COVID patients who have been declared as recovered on Wednesday. 

According to the DHS, active positive cases in the jurisdictions of other urban health centres stand as follows:, Vasco – 480 cases, Panaji- 474 and Mapusa – 476 cases.

While, active positive cases in the jurisdictions of community health centres are as follows: Sankhali – 232 cases, Bicholim – 125 cases, Pernem – 173 cases, Valpoi – 93 cases, Curchorem – 151 cases and Canacona – 114 cases.

 And, active positive cases in the jurisdictions of primary health centres stand as follows: Aldona – 168 cases, Betki – 67 cases, Cansarvanem – 40 cases, Colvale – 125 cases, Corlim – 125 cases, Chimbel – 232 cases, Siolim – 221 cases, Porvorim- 581 cases, Mayem – 59 cases,  Balli – 94 cases, Cansaulim – 231 cases, Chinchinim – 115 cases, Cortalim – 414 cases, Curtorim – 109 cases, Loutolim – 131 cases, Marcaim – 75 cases, Quepem – 90 cases, Sanguem – 70 cases, Shiroda- 118 cases, Dharbandora – 73 cases, Ponda – 454 cases and Navelim – 153 cases.
