Goa’s COVID positivity rate rises to 22.44%

Goa on Tuesday recorded 562 fresh COVID-19 cases, and with that, the positivity rate climbed to 22.44 per cent, as per the health bulletin issued by the directorate of health services (DHS).

The positivity rate of the total 2,504 samples tested on Tuesday was 22.44 per cent as against 20.87 per cent, which was recorded on Monday when 2,280 samples were drawn for testing. The recovery rate, which was over 95.63 per cent on April 1, dropped to 90.94 per cent on Tuesday.

Three more COVID-19 patients succumbed to the dreaded disease in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll in the state to 853.

Of the 562 persons, who tested positive for the pandemic on Tuesday, around 97 have been hospitalised in different health facilities across the state.

The confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Goa currently stand at 63,342 of which 4,888 are active, while 57,601 patients have defeated the deadly disease. Even though Margao and Porvorim have the highest number of active cases, a spurt in the daily fresh cases is being witnessed across the state including in the remote areas.

According to the DHS, active positive cases in the jurisdictions of urban health centres stand as follows: Margao – 523, Vasco – 239, Panaji – 340 and Mapusa – 330 cases.

The active positive cases in the jurisdictions of community health centres are as follows: Sankhali – 107, Bicholim – 113, Pernem – 104, Valpoi – 50, Curchorem – 63 and Canacona – 82.

Active cases in the jurisdictions of primary health centres stand as follows: Aldona – 86, Betki – 34, Candolim – 311, Cansarvanem – 12, Colvale – 68, Corlim – 110, Chimbel – 177, Siolim – 165, Porvorim- 460, Mayem – 33,  Balli – 44, Cansaulim – 155, Chinchinim – 92, Cortalim – 275, Curtorim – 76, Loutolim – 66, Marcaim – 31, Quepem – 34, Sanguem – 92, Shiroda – 82, Dharbandora – 60, Ponda – 369 and Navelim – 87.
