Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said the government has set the ball rolling for establishing the Goa Mining Corporation.
Sawant had announced in the state budget for 2021-22 that Goa Mining Corporation would be set up for restarting mining activities.
The budget was presented on March 24 in the state legislative assembly.
Iron ore mining activities came to a halt n Goa in March 2018 after the Supreme Court cancelled 88 mining lease renewals that had been granted in 2015.
It is pertinent to note here that the government has also decided to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd to carry out mapping of mineral resources in the state and identify potential mining sites.
