Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has urged mining companies to compensate the affected farmers without any delay.
Sawant was addressing a gathering after handing over cheques of compensation to around 147 affected farmers on behalf of a mining company on Wednesday.
He said that Chowgule mining company has set an example for other mining companies by compensating farmers despite mining operations in the state having come to a halt.
He also called upon farmers to undertake farming on a massive scale to help make Goa self-sufficient.
He also urged people to avail benefits of about 121 online services being provided by the government and so also benefits of different schemes available.
He maintained that the government was working hard to resolve the issue of Mayem custodian issue.
MLA Pravin Zantye said that the government is making efforts to resolve various issues in Mayem. Mayem
sarpanch Tulshidas Chodankar sought help of the government for all-round development of Mayem areas.
Also present were Bicholim deputy collector Deepak Vaingankar and company officials.
