Goa’s fresh COVID cases surge to 265

After months of a drop in the new coronavirus infections, Goa is now witnessing a sharp spike in the daily fresh cases of the contagious virus.

The COVID-19 situation has turned worrisome in the state yet again, as on Thursday 265 new COVID-19 cases were registered. One more death linked to the deadly virus was recorded in the last 24 hours. An alarmingly high number of COVID-19 cases have again started surfacing from the urban and suburban areas of Goa. There is also an increase in the new cases in the remote parts of the state.

With the 265 new COVID cases and one death, the tally of active cases has now reached 1,716, while the fatalities linked to the dreaded virus have risen to 831. Some 104 COVID-19 patients recovered from the disease on Thursday.

With this surge in new cases, the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Goa currently stand at 58,304 of which 55,757 patients have recovered from the disease.

According to the directorate of health services, active positive cases in the jurisdictions of urban health centres stand as follows: Margao 185, Vasco 112, Panaji 176 and Mapusa 75 cases.

The active cases in the jurisdictions of community health centres are as follows: Sankhali 41, Bicholim 31, Pernem 26, Valpoi 2, Curchorem 24 and Canacona 11.

Active cases in the jurisdictions of primary health centres stand as follows: Aldona 43, Betki 21, Candolim 125, Cansarvanem 9, Colvale 22, Corlim 37, Chimbel 56, Siolim 60, Porvorim 157, Mayem 4, Balli 15, Cansaulim 71, Chinchinim 46, Cortalim 71, Curtorim 18, Loutolim 36, Marcaim 11, Quepem 16, Sanguem 8, Shiroda 10, Dharbandora 21, Ponda 137 and Navelim 29.
