Vedanta’s Back to Farming project bags social impact award

Vedanta’s iron ore business in the state recently emerged as the runner-up in the large enterprise category at the Social Impact Award 2021 by Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), for its Back to Farming programme. The runner-up award was presented to Nilesh Zore, CSR Lead, Vedanta, Goa, at the ICC auditorium, Kolkata. The Back to Farming project is Vedanta’s flagship CSR programm. It aims to create sustainable livelihood opportunities and enhance the contribution of the agriculture sector towards socio- economic growth. According to Vedanta, the project is based on the multi-pronged approach to ensure the holistic development of agri and agri- based
allied activities through financial assistance by way of equipment’s, providing seeds & fertilizers, linkages to government schemes, market linkages, awareness programmes, etc. The award process comprised three stages which included scrutiny of the applications, presentation by applicant and voting
by the jury.            

Officials of Vedanta- Goa said that, under CSR several initiatives such as mobile health units, community medical centers, scholarship program, sports development programs and skill development have
been implemented.
