Ponda: Villagers from Borim, Shiroda and Panchwadi Village Panchayats have unanimously rejected the draft CZMP, which was sent back to the villages for suggestions and objections, during the gram sabha held on Thursday. The villagers have also demanded that the CZMP plan drafted by the villagers be incorporated by the government. Claiming various faults in the CZMP plan sent by the government, villagers from Borim, Shiroda and Panchwadi Village Panchayats had demanded a gram sabha and based on it, all three panchayats had called an extraordinary gram sabha on Thursday.
During the gram sabha villagers claimed that the CZMP plan sent by the government is completely faulty and not acceptable to them. Villagers pointed out that private property is shown as Khazan land at various points, farm land is shown as mangroves forest and fish breeding areas are not shown in the plan. Secondly Khazan line, hazardous line and high tide line are shown on the CZMP, which was passing through residential areas at some point, while some houses are not shown in the plan.
Villagers from all the three panchayats from Shiroda Constituency raised these issues and demanded explanation from the panchayat body. But they could not give proper explanation over the issues and raised their hands claiming that the plan has been prepared by the government and the panchayat has no role in it.
During the gram sabha at Shiroda, villagers cornered the sarpanch demanding explanation over why the draft plan prepared by the villagers was not incorporated and why the old CZMP was sent to the villagers again. The Shiroda sarpanch Amit Shirodkar said that the panchayat has no role to play in it.
During the gram sabha Shiroda villagers resolved to reject the CZMP plan sent by the government and have decided to re-send the draft plan prepared by the villagers with minor changes.
In the Borim gram sabha the villagers have demanded scrapping of the CZMP plan terming it as anti villagers and decided to attend the hearing related to CZMP scheduled at Margao on March 7 in large numbers to oppose the plan.
Panchwadi villagers too opposed the CZMP plan sent by the government and rejected it with a demand that villagers draft plan should be implemented.
