6 booked in group clash over sand transportation in Bhoma


Ponda: Ponda police have booked six persons including the deputy chairperson of the Ponda Municipality and have arrested four of them, after both groups lodged cross complaints in the sand transportation clash in Bhoma on Wednesday.

The accused involved in the fight are identified as Gaurish Tari (30) Sushant Naik (32) Rajesh Gaonkar (50) all three residents of Volvoi Verem, Virendra Dhavalikar resident of Ponda and deputy chairperson of PMC, Jalesh Naik resident of Ponda and Milind Dholeye resident of Sindhudurg Maharashtra.

As per information the incident occurred at around 6.30 pm at Bhoma on Ponda Panaji main road, when a group from Savoi Verem stopped the sand laden truck at Bhoma, which was transporting sand towards Bhoma from Sindhudurg.  Reacting to it, one person identified as Jalesh Naik, a friend of the truck driver Milind Dholeye came with a Creta car and threatened the group with a sword for halting the sand transportation.  Following which both groups entered into a fight.
