Crime Branch police have been recording the statements of witnesses in the ongoing probe in the attempt to murder case registered in connection with the violence that occurred at Shel-Melaulim during the anti-IIT protest last month.

Recently, fifteen more persons were granted conditional anticipatory bail in the case.

According to the police, these 15 persons were identified during the course of investigation, who subsequently had filed anticipatory bail application after they were summoned by the crime branch.

Earlier, 19 persons were granted conditional anticipatory bail while 3 persons Shailendra Velingkar, Vishwesh Parab and Kalpesh Gaonkar were arrested and later released on conditional bail by the District and Sessions Court, Panaji. Earlier in connection with the case, the court had dismissed the application filed by the crime branch police seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to Revolutionary Goans’ leader Manoj Parab.

It may be recalled that the case was transferred from Valpoi police to the Crime Branch, Ribandar.

As per the police during the violence around 15 women police were injured. Incidentally last month the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had said that the case will be withdrawn.
