The Goa Forward Party on Tuesday said that if Opposition parties fail to unite against the ruling BJP then the GFP will field candidates in 30 assembly constituencies for the 2022 assembly elections.
Making the assertion, GFP working president Kiran Kandolkar told media persons in Ponda that people strongly feel that all Opposition parties should unite against the BJP in the state.
Kandolkar’s remarks came following the induction of PMC councillor Chandrakala Naik into the GFP.
Spelling out the party’s plan for the 2022 assembly polls, Kandolkar said the
GFP will field candidates in two assembly segments of the total four constituencies in Ponda taluka.
However, he made it clear that the GFP will wait for moves other Opposition parties will make vis-a-vis the assembly elections.
“People’s sentiments are that all Opposition parties should unite to fight off the BJP. The GFP is waiting for it to happen, and talks are going on the same. But if Opposition parties fail to unite then the GFP has capacity to field candidates in 30 assembly constituencies…,” Kandolkar maintained, showing willingness to form an alliance with the Congress.
