CCP poll: Utpal takes potshot at BJP panel

Utpal Parrikar, the son of former chief minister Manohar Parrikar has, without taking names, made an oblique  remark  on the composition of the panel of the Bharatiya Janata Party announced on Monday for contesting the forthcoming election to the Corporation of the City of Panaji.

He in a Twitter message has said, “So the culture of promoting immediate kin while currently holding public office has crept into Panaji.”

Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate, who is the city MLA, is the architect of the said panel and has placed his son Rohit Monserrate in the same to contest from ward number three.

The city MLA had defeated the BJP candidate Sidharth Kunkalienkar at the 2017 assembly elections from the Panaji constituency, which was for long represented by Manohar Parrikar.

Later, Atanasio Monserrate orchestrated the overnight defection of 10 Congress MLAs including himself into the BJP.

Manohar Parrikar, who was the tallest leader BJP has seen in Goa, had always opposed the concept of Family Raj.
