Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim in association with Goa State Council for Science and Technology, (GSCST) Saligao and supported By National Council for Science and Technology Communication, District, Government of India, New Delhi, organised Mathlete 2021 which was themed ‘Mathematics Is Everywhere’.
Various competitions such as poster competition, pebble painting competition, exhibits, PowerPoint presentation, achievers’ test and quiz were conducted for the primary and secondary students as a part of Mathematics Day programme. Close to 2000 students of the school participated in the online competitions.
Chief guest of the day was deputy director of Education South Zone, Shailesh Sinai Zingde while guests of honour were mathematics teacher of St Michael’s Convent High School, Anjuna-Vagator, Shamsundar Naik, and project scientist (GSCST, Saligao-Goa), Brenda Fernandes.
Headmistress, Sr Liberata Fernandes welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of having Mathlete. In her speech she emphasised the importance of mathematics and said that it helped the students to build logical thinking and reasoning. She also explained the significance of the Mathlete logo designed by teacher, Tadeu Dias.
In his address Zingde appreciated the innovative idea of organising Mathlete, which gave students the opportunity to showcase their talent.
This was followed by the prize distribution for all the winners.
