Young at Art


Panaji-based national award-winning organisation, Yuva organised a painting community initiative at the Panaji Municipal Market. The initiative was in association with students from Goa College of Art, Altinho, Panaji and supported by MLA Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate.

On the day before the event, artists and professionals gathered at the Panaji Market and sketched out concepts based on Goan themes such as Shigmo, Carnival, etc. On the day of the event, over 150 people including children and their parents participated in painting the walls based on the concepts drawn previously.

The initiative was appreciated by Babush who visited each and every painting and interacted with the participants. He urged them to participate and uplift the talent in themselves. He even interacted with the art college students and appreciated their hard work. Furthermore, he extended his support to Yuva in their upcoming activities and lauded their efforts in taking up this initiative. He then distributed certificates to all the participants.

Yuva founder, Raghuvir Mahale expressed his happiness over the response received and promised to carry on organising such programmes all across Panaji city throughout the year. He also thanked Babush; Needha Sayed; mayor, Uday Madkaikar; CCP commissioner, Sanjit Rodrigues; corporator, Shekhar Degvekar; municipal engineer, CCP, Vivek Parsekar; and principal, Goa College of Art, Sabita Prabhudesai. Project incharge, Sarvesh Shetye also expressed his gratitude towards all participants and the students of Goa College of Art.

Among the main artists from Goa College of Art were Yatnesh Talwankar, Shradha Naik, Riya Marshelkar, Jayat Gauns, Sanmesh Gaonkar, Mayur Naik, Akash Guade, Purva Mule, Akshata Manjrekar, Sadanand Dabholkar, Navin Volvoikar, Vishvam Naik, and Saish Humraskar led by Himalay Gaude.
