No end to problem of water shortage in Porvorim

Residents in P&T colony seen filling barrels and other utensils from a government supplied water tanker on Sunday.

Panaji: Residents of Anganwadi near P & T colony, Porvorim are facing water shortage for the last one month and are living either on tanker water supplied by the government department or private tanker suppliers.

Speaking to this daily, the residents said that after being affected by short supply of water by the PWD and no water supply in various areas of the village panchayat of Penha Franca, Sucorro village panchayat area and others took a morcha to the water supply department (PWD) opposite the Porvorim Health Centre along with the local MLA Rohan Khaunte, and there was some improvement.

“Till date, in many areas there is a tremendous improvement in water supply after a public morcha was taken to the PWD water supply engineer’s office but selectively areas are getting uninterrupted water supply whereas few other areas are still suffering for want of water, ‘’ they added.

Every alternate day residents have to depend on government water supply as they get water but insufficient supply and that too it is very slow and without any force.
