Mumbai City FC and Hyderabad FC played out a goalless draw in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim on Saturday. Hyderabad would feel better about the result but Mumbai could have lost had the men in yellow finished their chances.
Sergio Lobera lined up Mumbai in a 4-2-3-1 formation while Manuel Marquez deployed Hyderabad in a 4-4-2 formation. Hyderabad had prepared for this match better as they pressed Mumbai high up and prevented the table toppers from playing out from the back. The plan worked brilliantly as Mumbai struggled to create clear cut opportunities despite having more of the ball.
The best chance of the game fell to Hyderabad in the 33rd minute. Mohammed Yasir emerged with the ball on the left side of his own half. He looked up and played a very clever lobbed throuh ball for Joel Chianese in the middle. The Islander’s defense was holding a high line and Chianese was able to get behing them. The Australian was one-on-one with the keeper and fired a low shot. But Amrinder Singh spread himself wide and saved it with his right leg. Joel Chianese should have buried that chance.
