Goa registered their first win in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament as they beat Services by five wickets, at Indore on Wednesday.
Goa won the toss and opted to field. Services lost their first wicket in the third over itself with 21 runs on the board. But after that, most of their batsmen contributed well to help the team post a challenging total of 160 for 7 in 20 overs.
Opener Ravi Chauhan top-scored with 62, while Rahul Gahlaut and skipper Rajat Paliwal chipped in with 37 and 27 runs respectively.
For Goa, Lakshay Garg claimed 2 wickets, while Ashoke Dinda, Darshan Misal and Malik Sirur took one wicket each.
In reply, Goa rode on Aditya Kaushik’s strokeful 56-ball 78 and Amit Verma’s whirlwind 27-ball 42 to chase down the target in 19.4 overs, but not before losing 5 wickets. Snehal Kauthankar (19) and Darshan Misal (14) were the other run getters for Goa.
Services’ Mohit Kumar was the most successful bowler claiming 3 for 32.
Goa after two games are now on 4 points. Earlier in their first game on Tuesday, Goa suffered a narrow 6-run defeat to Madhya Pradesh who posted a mammoth 214/3 and in reply Goa could reach 208/7.
