Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai on Wednesday said that if Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has got political courage then he should resign as a minister if the state government goes ahead with the IIT project in Shel-Melauli of Sattari taluka.
Rane, who is Valpoi MLA, has declared his opposition to the project in his home turf.
“The GFP welcomes the move of the Health Minister, who has written a letter to the Chief Minister expressing his opposition to the IIT project. But this must be pursued till the project is moved out of Sattari. And if it does not happen then Rane should resign from the cabinet…,” said Sardesai speaking on the sidelines of a function at Fatorda.
He suggested that ministers Michael Lobo and Filipe Neri Rodrigues should also write to the Chief Minister conveying that they are opposing the expansion in coal transportation and the double-tracking project.
At a function held at Dramapur on Tuesday, both the ministers declared that they are
opposed to the two projects, Sardesai claimed.
The Fatorda MLA said that both the ministers should take a cue from Rane and write to the Chief Minister expressing their opposition to the projects.
“And if the government does not heed to the opposition then they should walk out of it (government),’’ Sardesai opined.
